Research – Literature Reviews
Literature Review 1 Research Question: What are the causes behind the high rate of unnecessary cesarean section procedures performed on laboring women in the United States?
The cesarean section (“C-Section”) rate across the United States has faced an epic incline over the past few decades. After a review of 10 peer-reviewed articles, the rise in the U.S C-section, largely encompassing low risk and unnecessary procedures, can be seen as the product of improper medical intervention, economic malpractice scares, and varying attitudes from physicians.

Worksite Trans-fat Intervention Program Plan: A Program Aimed to Reduce the Risk of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) – This proposed two year long program aims to address the disproportionate risk of CHD in African Americans by promoting healthy behaviors and reducing trans-fat intake amongst African American employees of the Entergy Corporation in New Orleans, Louisiana. This program will achieve this mission by providing comprehensive educational material and resources from a collection of nutritional health specialists, instructors and key stakeholders from community organizations. The main goal of this intervention is to educate the participants by providing knowledge, tools and resources on how to confidently avoid trans-fat in their daily diet and thereby improve health outcomes such as lowering risk for progression or diagnosis of coronary heart disease.
